James McMinn Inc. (JMI) is a highly-qualified, experienced, full-service, heavy earthwork grading contractor headquartered near Riverside, CA. JMI is a family-owned company, established in 2005 by James McMinn, who is very active in the day-to-day field and office operations. JMI utilizes the cumulative project experience and solid qualifications of the leadership team to manage our crews working on the most difficult land development projects in the Southern California region.
Through great leadership, an outstanding project and office management team, and skilled heavy equipment field crews, JMI is recognized as one of the top-tier, civil engineering grading companies in Southern California.
JMI provides the highest quality earthwork construction based on solid, professional, and personal relationships. JMI crews utilize technology to enhance our productivity, track results and provide benefits to our clients.
JMI provides residential and commercial earthwork, as well as value engineering for difficult projects. We consistently set ourselves apart from our competition through top quality workmanship and cost effective solutions to the complexities that are inherent in earthwork and heavy civil jobs.
JMI provides the most accurate earthwork solutions possible to our clients. Our focus on earthwork starts with an on-site assessment to physically understand the existing conditions that may impact the work. We carefully review the plans to ensure all site conditions are properly represented. We use the best construction software technology to ensure quantities and 3-D models of your project are fully clarified before the work starts. Our field management team carefully selects and mobilizes the correct equipment and personnel to each site to ensure production matches project conditions, and daily performance provides accurate results.
JMI utilizes up-to-date, industry-focused software and advanced hardware technology to create highly reliable models from which the project is built. GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) units are used on every project by our field crews, both hand-held and attached to equipment equipped with this system. This incorporation of a complete system serves to increase production and build the project with precise accuracy, providing our clients with the most reliable results.
Our clients range from public work agencies to private residential developers throughout Southern California. Regardless of job size JMI is committed to providing dependability and excellence throughout the civil construction process.
Our current and completed projects range in size from $100,000 to $20,000,000 in contract value. We utilize a versatile fleet of scrapers, dozers, motor graders, excavators, loaders, water pulls, heavy-haul trucks, and a variety of support equipment. Using well-maintained equipment and professional expertise, JMI can handle any size site development project. Our experience means your project goes like clockwork – on schedule, on budget, with highest quality performance.
Location of Operations
JMI’s base of operations – from our office in Grand Terrace, CA – allows the company to focus on projects of a variety of sizes and locations throughout the Southern California region. Presently we are working in the eastern area of Riverside County in Coachella; we have a large grading project in the western area of Los Angeles County in Chatsworth; several larger and smaller jobs in the Corona and Ontario/Chino area; as well as projects in Orange County.
JMI is also bidding work in San Diego County as our Clients recognize that we can provide fully staffed and supported project teams to perform in that region, as well.
JMI is growing in response to demand for high-performance, top-quality grading contractors throughout Southern California. This has opened the “door of opportunity” for JMI to extend employment opportunities to a wide range of possible candidates who are seeking employment in the heavy construction field.
Our military veterans are, in our opinion, well suited for this type of work, as they have experience in focused training, teamwork, and problem solving, using specific resources to overcome challenges. Our company management recognizes how important our veterans are to our country, and, as a result, JMI wants veterans to come to work in this field. A military veteran can come to work for JMI, and, with hard work, determination and initiative, find opportunities to grow with the company into highly-skilled positions.
Heavy grading and civil construction is hard work, but very rewarding. Every project, no matter how big or small, presents daily opportunities to build experience and achieve new levels of personal growth in the field of construction.
JMI has employment opportunities ranging from entry-level laborers up to skilled heavy equipment operators, grade-checkers and foremen.
